Your privacy is very important to us. We understand you want to remain in control of your personal information and that we must earn and retain your trust. We at BeerCert (a managed service that is wholly owned by Craftpeer Ltd.) have created this Privacy Policy to show our commitment to the privacy of any personal details that you provide us with when using our website. We can assure you that we keep your information confidential and do not sell or rent our customers' personal information to third parties.
Please review this Privacy Policy, which sets out our policies regarding the collection, utilisation and protection of the personal information of those using beercert.co.uk (‘the App’). When using the App, you are consenting to the practices set forth in this Privacy Policy. An account is required to see listings and make purchases. Emails will be sent to you regarding the confirmation of orders and dispatch notifications should you choose to use the site to place orders with us.
Persons below the legal drinking age in the relevant country (18 years in the UK) are not eligible to use the App and we ask that such persons do not submit any personal information to us.
The App is a wholesale operation, so most accounts and information provided should be used to create and maintain a business relationship. However, we acknowledge that individuals are also allowed to use the site, while some businesses are sole traders or their employees may need to share some personal information. As a result, every effort is made to ensure that all data that might be considered personal data is used appropriately and safely for every type of user.
Creating an Account
To properly browse the App and see the price of products, all users of BeerCert are required to register an account. To do this we need some basic but essential information relating to the business or individual who wishes to set up a buying account. We require a business name, telephone number and a contact email address to create and identify your account, and we need your postcode.
We also have strict rules regarding licensing laws on the website. As the products are shipped directly from the suppliers, we need to ensure that such activity is not inadvertently breaching licensing laws. Our team will need to verify that you are a licensed business and able to sell alcohol to the public. We use several methods to verify your account but, should you need to provide us with the license details, and you agree to do so, you give us permission to store that information and you acknowledge that you have the authority to share that information with us.
Making a Purchase
Please note that we do request your email address and password to confirm your identity each time you log in.
When a standard order is placed on the App, BeerCert will be responsible for everything. We will arrange the logistics and handle all the payments and customer services relating to the transaction. To purchase products and related services through our site using this service, essential information is needed, some of which may be defined as personal.
You must pay using a credit or debit card. We need you to provide card details and the billing name and address. This is all processed securely with an external card payment provider. For your convenience, you may wish to save your credit card billing details on your account so that you do not need to provide this information repeatedly. However, we can assure you that we do not hold the card information on our own servers, and this is protected by our regulated card processing partner.
For us subsequently to deliver products, the business name (where applicable), a contact name, the delivery address and delivery preferences will be required as part of your account information. Please note, this information may then in turn be provided to a supplier or seller for the sole purpose of delivering the specific purchased product(s). The suppliers have already agreed not to use this information for any other purpose than to enable such shipments.
Sharing Information
We do not share your details with third parties without seeking permission, except when we are required to do so by law, or as part of our normal logistics process, as documented in this privacy policy.
We need to share your billing information with selected payment processing partners as referred to above, to take payment and to release your products for delivery at the time of purchase.
Your name and address may be provided or made visible to a supplier (e.g. a brewery) for the sole purpose of delivering or providing your purchased product(s).
We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information to third parties for marketing purposes.
Automatic Logging of Session Data
Generic information about your mobile device’s connection to the internet, called "session data", will automatically be logged. This information is anonymous and cannot be used to track your personal information. Session data consists of items such as the IP address, operating system and type of browser software being used, and the activities conducted by the user while on our site. An IP address is a number that enables computers attached to the internet, such as our web servers, to know where to send data back to the user, such as the pages of the App which the user wants to view. We collect session data because it helps us administer our App.
Cookies
A cookie is a small file of information that is automatically stored by an App. Cookies can only identify your computer and not the individual user. Cookies store some basic information that will enable us to identify if that computer has previously been used to visit the App. Cookies are only read by the server that placed them and are unable to do such things as run programs on your mobile device, plant viruses, or harvest your personal information. The use of cookies is very widespread and BeerCert's use of cookies is like that of other reputable online companies. Any personal information that you provide us with such as your name and address is neither gathered nor stored in the cookies placed by the BeerCert App and, as a result, your information will not be passed on to any third parties.
Opting Out
As a BeerCert customer, you may opt in at any time to occasionally receive updates from us about new breweries, special offers, new BeerCert services, and other items that may be of interest to you via email, text messages, phone or post. Where previous indication of consent has been provided, it is possible for you to opt out at any time, so that you no longer receive these types of message, by using an opt out feature in the message.
Our Security Precautions
Our App has security features in place to protect against loss, misuse and alteration of the information under our control. Your password is encrypted, and all your information is visible only when logged into either your own account or an account controlled by one of our employees. Information is transmitted using 256-bit Secure Server Software SSL (Secure Socket Layer) encryption. SSL is a proven coding system that automatically encrypts data before you send it to us. It will not therefore be possible for your payment method data, name or address to be read as the information travels over the mobile network/internet.
Our staff are trained with regards to data protection and our systems are all password protected.
Your Security
Please note that it is your responsibility to maintain the secrecy of your passwords and your BeerCert membership account information. Please be vigilant with this information, especially whenever you are online.
We ask you never to provide us with sensitive information (in particular your card details) via email or on the phone and only to use the App to provide this safely and securely.
Disclosure in Compliance with Laws
You should be aware that, in addition to the circumstances described above, BeerCert may disclose your financial or personal information if required to do so by law or court order, or as requested by other government or law enforcement authority. We may disclose such information in the good faith belief that disclosure is otherwise necessary or advisable including, without limitation, to protect the rights or properties of BeerCert or its affiliated companies. We may disclose such information when we have reason to believe that doing so is necessary to identify, contact or bring legal action against someone who may be causing interference with our rights or properties, whether intentionally or otherwise, or when anyone else could be harmed by such activities.
This version of our policy is effective June 2022. Any material changes in the way BeerCert uses personal information will be described in future versions of this Privacy Policy.
You can always submit concerns regarding our Privacy Policy or our privacy practices via email to robert@beercert.co.uk. Please mention the Privacy Policy in your subject line. BeerCert will attempt to respond to all reasonable concerns or inquiries within five business days of receipt.
